CA Senator Once Again Backs For Grace’s Pain Awareness Resolution

State Senator Maria Elena Durazo is once again taking the reins on a resolution which will proclaim September as Pain Awareness Month and September 1st as Women In Pain Awareness Day in California. This will be For Grace's 21st year sponsoring this resolution that will bring crucial awareness and education to lawmakers about the need for early diagnosis, quality pain treatment and the gender bias toward women in their pain care. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the Senator and staffer Fernando Rameriz for again taking the lead on this all-important effort!

For Grace Seeks Women In Pain Stories of Isolation and Loneliness

In May 2023, the US Surgeon General, Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, issued a stark advisory that isolation and loneliness are a public health epidemic as damaging to Americans as smoking and obesity. Sadly, this devastating duo impacts the Women In Pain community far more than others as they often negatively complicate the chronic pain experience. If you're a Women In Pain who's impacted by accompanying isolation and/or loneliness, please write and share your story with us as we look forward to spotlighting this critical issue through various For Grace projects in 2024.

For Grace’s January 2024 Story of the Month

For Grace's 2024 kick-off Story of the Month features Woman In Pain, patient advocate and author, Cam Auxer. After battling a string of chronic illnesses since childhood, Cam recently faced breast cancer which brought on serious new chronic pain challenges due to radiation, surgery and chemotherapy. Despite these formidable hardships, Cam considers herself blessed as she learned invaluable resilience from a young age and embraces life to "lift others up." To help meet that goal, she's the author of When Bodies Break: How We Survive and Thrive with Illness and Disability.

For Grace’s January 2025 Story of the Month

Well, it's a new year - and we're kicking off our 2025 Share Your Story project with another sharing that touches on the intersection between chronic pain and loneliness.  Tracy Zuckerman has been challenged by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome for over 25 years - and each day still brings a revolving-door of unpredictability. Though she has adapted to her plight, others near and dear find it arduous which leads to misunderstandings and disappointments.  For those who have stayed, sharing their lives brings joy and comfort to Tracy, along with a bridge to staying connected.
