Science continues to back trauma as the root of many of our physical ills, including high-impact chronic pain. University of Michigan researcher Dr. Jennifer Pierce will take a deep dive into the why's and wherefore's of this emerging pain management dynamic at For Grace's 11th Annual Women In Pain Conference that will highlight trauma, the methods to release it and the personal growth that can come from recovery. Join us on November 17th as Dr. Pierce, along with other nationally noted experts, peel back the many layers of trauma's impact on health and wellness.
An excellent LA Times article that goes into depth about the devastation of high-impact chronic pain along with coping mechanisms for its accompanying loss, cited a groundbreaking survey by For Grace. Conducted in 2014 in partnership with the National Pain Report, the survey asked 2,400 women about their pain experience, in particular the quality of their encounters with healthcare systems and practitioners. To this day, it remains the only survey of its kind, providing critical insight into the unique challenges women face in obtaining quality pain care.
For Grace's 11th Annual Women In Pain Conference expands its program to explore more deeply the connection between trauma and chronic pain. Focusing on the impact of early development, conference attendees will be given the opportunity to take an Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences Survey (PACES) that will shed light on how formative years play a significant part in adult-onset chronic illness. Please check back at forgrace.org as program details roll out - and join us virtually on November 17th to learn how trauma's role is front-and-center for well-being.
