It would have been very easy for me to take the pat on the head, patronizing attitude that I was met with by the medical community. The pain in my right side started seven months ago. Test after test came back negative. The female GYN was the worst: she told me to stop going to doctors all together.
But with the assistance of my primary doctor and largely the help of my husband, who is a pharmacist, we have narrowed my pain to one of two things. However, they still haven’t touched my pain. I lay in bed most days on a heating pad or with an ice pack. I am being sent to a pain clinic, but they should prescribe something prior to my appointment. I take my husband along so I’m not ignored as a woman which has happened, note the comment by the GYN. I have heart disease, asthma, and according to her, I don’t need to be seen by those doctors either who are treating me for those conditions. My all time high BP was 150/110. I burst a blood vessel in my eye, went to the ER and was sent home without any treatment.
Help only came from being strong and doing my own research to find competent doctors. I would advise women staying away from women doctors as I have found them uncaring. They are the first doctors to write you off as being a neurotic, simple woman wasting their time.
