For Grace spokesperson Cynthia Toussaint will pick up her pen as a regular blog post contributor for The Mighty's online chronic illness community. Toussaint, who hosts a monthly Facebook Live stream with this advocacy organization, looks forward to writing about the pain experience in her raw and real style. Look for more posts like this one in the months to come.
For Grace's June story of the month focuses on woman in pain Rachael Caplan and her battle with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and at times an abusive healthcare system. After 30 months of being completely housebound, Rachael inspires by telling how step by step she's re-entering life and can now "see that there's a light at the end of this long, dark, scary tunnel." Read Rachael's story of hopeful determination HERE.
On August 14th For Grace will be hosting an educational briefing at the Capitol in Sacramento. Our world-class speakers will educate legislators, staffers and health agency personnel in attendance about high-impact chronic pain, sharing the patient, clinical and research perspectives. At this two-hour event, key recommendations from our upcoming white paper will be voiced as we'll be seeking legislation to help accomplish our goal to implement a California pain strategy. We hope you'll join us as we'll follow up with visits to legislative offices just after the briefing!
